MyMentor – An Asynchronous Learning Movement to Empower the Marginalized

 

Developed by The Smith Gruppe, MyMentor is not just a Learning Management System—it is a mission-driven movement to close the educational equity gap between underserved rural communities and their urban or privileged counterparts. Built on the proven frameworks of the top mentor-protégé programs in the U.S., MyMentor leverages a Center of Excellence (CoE) approach to deliver high-quality, personalized, and scalable mentorship in an asynchronous format—unlocking potential where resources are limited and hope is often deferred.

The Vision

To elevate marginalized, under-served, and under-represented students—particularly in rural and high-need areas—by giving them the academic mentorship, empowerment, and structured support typically reserved for the elite. MyMentor equips these learners with a personalized, data-driven pathway to success, narrowing achievement gaps and transforming communities.

The Model

Each mentor is assigned to 200 students and uses the platform to provide personalized tuition, cognitive and non-cognitive skill development, STEM and entrepreneurship guidance, and train-the-trainer programs. Students are matched through a robust diagnostic process and supported via structured engagements, bi-weekly assessments, and community accountability.
